Brick Industry Association (BIA) member manufacturers around the country have reported that residential and commercial brick trends include whites, light grays, ivories, rough-hewn textures, glazed brick and larger brick sizes.
Visionary projects incorporating fired-clay brick earned 2016 Brick in Architecture Awards from the Brick Industry Association (BIA). Judged by a jury of peers, 32 Best in Class, Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in 17 states and Canada were awarded in seven categories: Commercial, Educational (Higher Education), Educational (K-12), Health Care, Municipal/Government, Residential (Multi-Family) and Residential (Single-Family).
Acme Brick Co. celebrated its 124th birthday by toppling over 4,000 brick at the Fort Worth Water Gardens in Fort Worth, Texas. Most “topples” are built with dominos, but this installation used real Acme brick: solid paving brick from Acme’s Tulsa, Okla., plant, as well as several hundred specialty brick from other Acme plants.
