President Obama signed the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act on June 22, marking the first major overhaul of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) in 40 years. The president called the legislation “proof that Washington can function despite intense polarization.” He praised both chemicals industry groups and environmentalists for achieving consensus despite their usual differences of opinion.
Deco ’16 kicked off April 16 in Baltimore, Md., marking the show’s first return to the East Coast since 2002 when the group met in Washington, D.C. Approximately 150 decorators and suppliers attended the three-day conference, which featured a keynote speech by Colonel Danny McKnight, Ret. U.S. Army. McKnight, who took part in the Battle of Mogadishu, which was chronicled in the movie Black Hawk Down, discussed leadership and his newly released book.
The Society of Glass and Ceramic Decorated Products (SGCDpro) members who are also members of the Crystal Federation may have received a letter from that group’s legal counsel regarding the proper labeling of dinnerware with respect to lead content.
