Specializing in ceramics, printmaking and photography, Suanne Rayner is an art educator and artist living in the Chicago area. She graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a bachelor’s of arts degree in liberal arts, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a bachelor’s of fine arts degree with a concentration in ceramics, and a master’s of art in teaching. She developed an intimate knowledge of mixing clay, creating glazes and surface applications for students’ use while employed as a ceramic studio assistant at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She currently works as a teaching artist.
Bridging the Curriculum through Art: Interdisciplinary Connections was created by a group of educators, artists and museum educators as a tool for incorporating art into other academic disciplines.
Glazing and Firing begins with the basics: how to make and apply surface decorations and how to permanently change the composition of clay with the use of fire.
