Steel Production Increases 6% in July 2017
The crude steel capacity utilization ratio of the 67 countries in July 2017 was 72.1%.

World crude steel production for the 67 countries reporting to the World Steel Association was 143.2 million metric tons (Mt) in July 2017, a 6.3% increase compared to July 2016. July 2017 crude steel production (and comparisons to July 2016) included:
- China—74 Mt, up 10.3%
- Japan—8.6 Mt, down 4.3%
- India—8.4 Mt, up 3.5%
- South Korea—6.2 Mt, up 2.3%
- Germany—3.5 Mt, up 3.6%
- Turkey—3.3 Mt, up 27.8%
- U.S.—7.1 Mt, up 5.6%
- Brazil—2.8 Mt, up 1%
The crude steel capacity utilization ratio of the 67 countries in July 2017 was 72.1%. This is 3.2 percentage points higher than July 2016 and 1.5 percentage points lower than June 2017.
