Sacmi Imola Hosts Continua+ Demonstration Event
Operators from over 30 countries representing the biggest Italian and international ceramic companies recently traveled to the Imola Sacmi R&D Center to see a live demonstration of the CONTINUA+ line, a technology for the manufacture of large decorated ceramic tile. Several of the products manufactured from the line were also on display, from very large floor slabs developed with major color manufacturers to ultra-large slabs up to 3,200 mm long. A year after its launch, 13 plants have reportedly installed the line.
The Continua+ line reportedly incorporates a belt-type super-compactor that produces decorated ceramic tile up to 1,600 mm wide without any constraints on size or thickness. The line also creates multiple on-product effects such as structures and HD graphics through the integration of DDD dry digital decorators, the use of structured belts, and DHD wet digital decorators. The line can produce products from large 120 x2 40 format tile with very high resolution graphics to standard porcelain tile and marble-natural stone.
