Tecnargilla 2014: The Ceramics of Tomorrow
Tecnargilla 2014 will explore the latest ceramic technologies, innovations and products.
This month, Rimini Fiera and the Association of Italian Manufacturers of Machinery and Equipment for Ceramics (Acimac) are presenting Tecnargilla 2014, which will take place September 22-26 in Rimini, Italy. The 24th international exhibition for the ceramic and brick industries will showcase technologies and products from many different sectors, including tile, bathroom fixtures, whitewares, refractory materials and technical/advanced ceramics.
More than 450 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors from around the globe took advantage of 75,000 sq m of exhibition space during the 2012 event. The 2014 event is expected to draw a similar attendance.
Ceramic Workshop
Attendees will be granted a sneak peek of the latest trends and innovations in ceramics throughout the four areas of the Ceramic Workshop exhibition: the Ceramic Trends display, the Tecnargilla Design Award (TDA), the Istituto Europeo di Design project lab and the Style for Tile section. The Ceramic Trends display will concentrate on this year’s theme: Ceramic Dreams 2014. Ceramic Dreams will focus on experimental colors, patterns, formats and finishes associated with ceramic tile decoration. The exhibition pathway will be organized by architecture firm Azzolini Tinuper and will lead visitors through a fantasy world concept dedicated to sensory exploration.
The Tecnargilla Design Award section of the Ceramic Workshop will highlight the entries for the third edition of the floor and wall tile innovation competition. Entries will refer to or center on this year’s theme: Thickness. A winner will be chosen by a group of tile retailers, journalists and ceramics professionals.
Other areas of the Ceramic Workshop will include a special research project by the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) that will examine alternative uses for ceramic materials, as well as the Style for Tile section that will highlight Italian ceramic design aesthetics.
Showcase Highlights
With a strong focus on digital glazing, Tecnargilla’s Kromatech exhibit section will invite manufacturers, designers and creative professionals to explore the latest glaze inspirations, application systems and integration solutions for inkjet decoration. Other design trends related to ceramic products will also be featured at Kromatech.
Similarly, the Claytech section is intended for manufacturers of brick technology and heavy clay machinery and equipment, and the Kermat section will consist of displays of advanced ceramics technology and products for the electronics, automotive, biomedical, chemical and telecommunications industries.
