I was wearing Capri pants yesterday. The day before that, I had on shorts and a t-shirt. The sun was shining. We had all of the windows open and were able to enjoy a ton of fresh air. Today, however, I woke up to see snow on the ground, with more falling. It’s freezing cold, outside and in, and my previously perky daffodils are drooping miserably.
Please keep in mind that I’ve lived in Ohio all of my life. Ohioans are used to the weather being pretty unpredictable, some might even say schizophrenic. But for us, and many others in nearby states and even across the East Coast, this winter is like nothing we’ve ever known. Not only have we had to deal with extremely cold temperatures, but it seems like the bad weather will never end.
Such a long stretch of generally miserable weather really takes its toll. It’s difficult to stay active and motivated when you’re continually being put through the freeze/thaw cycle. It’s almost beginning to feel like Mother Nature is engaging in some kind of psychological warfare. Just when the sun peeks out and we think the worst is over, the temperatures drop, the clouds roll in, and the white stuff starts to fall. Again.
Kind of sounds like the economy, doesn’t it? I’m tired of this awful weather, and I’m really tired of the economic downturn. Complaining and worrying about them certainly aren’t going to get us anywhere. Maybe we should just pretend that they don’t exist for a while. If we weren’t dealing with a challenging economy, what might your business look like right now? Is there a way you can work toward that reality while dealing with this one?
