Rookwood Pottery Co. recently announced its artists and craftsmanship will be featured on the May 16 episode of the television program “How It’s Made.”
The episode, which was taped at Rookwood’s Over-the-Rhine studios and showroom in August 2012, reportedly documents how the company handcrafts its ceramic urns, from the mold-making process to the final glazing. The urns were introduced in 2011 through an agreement with Aurora Casket Co.
The May 16 episode is reportedly the first of two on the company. The show’s camera crew is expected to visit Cincinnati in mid-May to capture how Rookwood Pottery’s artists handcraft its custom fireplace installations.
“The “How It’s Made” camera crew spent an entire day with us back in August, and the guys were really impressed by the other work we do—the fireplace installations, the custom tiles and the artwork,” said Martin Wade, owner, Rookwood Pottery. “They had no idea Rookwood produced such a breadth of work, so they asked if they could come back. Of course we said yes.
