 NETZSCH-Gerätebau GmbH celebrates 50 years.

NETZSCH-Gerätebau GmbH, a producer of instruments for thermal analysis, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2012. The cornerstone was first laid at NETZSCH at the beginning of the 1950s for what would become a leading manufacturer for thermal characterization of solids and liquids.

NETZSCH-Gerätebau’s first measuring systems were developed within a Testing Equipment department that had been set up for the investigation of ceramic raw materials. By 1962, this department had grown enough to be established as an independent business unit within NETZSCH.

Over the decades, NETZSCH-Gerätebau—a family company in northern Bavaria—has forged a solid position in the area of materials analysis. Its portfolio today comprises measurement technology for the characterization of polymers, foods and pharmaceuticals, as well as equipment for analyzing metals and ceramic materials. Leading research centers and universities around the world use the company’s instruments, as well as both large-scale enterprises and start-up businesses in all manner of next-generation technologies.

“Being part of a family-owned group founded more than 100 years ago, today in 2012 we are very proud to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the NETZSCH Analyzing and Testing business unit,” said Thomas Denner, Ph.D., managing director of NETZSCH-Gerätebau GmbH, Business Unit Analyzing & Testing. “While we are now active in many industries, including nuclear research, polymers, aerospace, and automotive, among others, it is actually in the research and quality assurance of ceramics and ceramic raw materials where it all began. This means, at the same time, we are thrilled to celebrate our close 50-year relationship with the ceramic industry.

“I would like to especially thank our loyal customers and partners with whom we have continuously developed our award-winning product portfolio,” he said. “Without you, we would not be where we are today—a fast-growing company in the field of thermal analysis, thermophysical properties, and calorimetry.”

NETZSCH instruments have contributed to the development of materials and state-of-the-art products that are more efficient, lighter and more durable than ever before. Many of our modern-day comforts in air and space travel exist because of NETZSCH instruments, as do many of the innovations in areas ranging from wind energy and photovoltaics to energy storage and building insulation.

The company offers excellent support, a high degree of flexibility, long product life and high measurement precision to its customers. Over the decades, intensive collaboration with research institutes and universities, along with an innovative development team, have made NETZSCH-Gerätebau GmbH what it is today.
